About the role: As the Video Editor at Disruptive University, you will be responsible for creating innovative and visually compelling video content that elevates the Disruptive brand, drives engagement, and fosters audience growth. You will take an active role in both video post-production and on-site production, including filming and studio support. Your expertise in motion graphics, combined with creative storytelling, will bring ideas to life and ensure our content remains ahead of the curve. Collaborating closely with the marketing team, your work will amplify brand awareness, accelerate product development, and cultivate audience loyalty across diverse platforms.

As our Video Editor, you will be responsible for the following areas:

  • Video Editing & Motion Design: Edit raw footage into high-quality videos, integrating advanced motion graphics, visual effects, and sound design.
  • Filming & Studio Support: Assist with filming sessions and support in-studio production, including setting up equipment, lighting, and audio, to ensure excellent production value.
  • Content Repurposing: Adapt long-form content into engaging short-form clips for social media, maintaining a clear narrative and engaging storytelling.
  • Platform-Specific Optimization: Adjust videos for optimal performance across different platforms, ensuring alignment with trends like vertical video and rapid-consumption formats.
  • Media Library Management: Maintain an organized video library for easy access to assets, ensuring seamless reuse and future campaign support.

As our Video Editor, your day-to-day will include:

  • Collaborate with Marketing Team: Work closely with content creators, designers, and [insert Lou’s title] to ensure video content aligns with brand messaging and marketing objectives.
  • End-to-End Production: Own the full video production process from pre-production planning, shooting, and editing to final delivery.
  • Creative Concept Development: Contribute creative ideas and insights during brainstorming sessions to elevate content concepts and storytelling strategies.
  • Audio Mixing & Color Correction: Ensure high production quality through sound mixing, color correction, and attention to detail.
  • Project Management: Meet deadlines consistently while balancing multiple projects with fast turnaround requirements.
  • Trend Analysis: Stay up to date with emerging video trends, platform changes, and industry best practices to keep content fresh and relevant.

What you need to be our Video Editor:

  • Local to Pleasant Grove, Utah; ability to work in the office 1-2 days per week
  • 2-3+ years of video editing experience
  • Strong video editing portfolio
  • High Proficiency in Editing Software: Expertise in Adobe Premiere Pro, After Effects, and other relevant software (Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve).
  • Motion Graphics Skills: Ability to create and integrate dynamic motion graphics to enhance storytelling.
  • Strong Storytelling Ability: Experience editing videos with clear narrative flow, pacing, and engaging storytelling.
  • Technical Filming Knowledge: Familiarity with camera operation, lighting setups, and audio equipment.
  • Time Management: Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in editing, ensuring seamless transitions, proper audio mixing, and visually appealing output.
  • Communication Skills: Clear and effective communicator, able to take and incorporate feedback for project refinement.
  • Experience with YouTube OR Social Media Trends: Knowledge of platform-specific strategies, especially YouTube algorithms and TikTok/Instagram trends.
  • Preferred: Photography Skills: Experience in photography for cross-functional projects is a plus.
  • Preferred: 3D Animation Experience: Knowledge of 3D animation and related software such as Cinema 4D or Blender.
  • Preferred: Basic Knowledge of SEO for Video: Understanding of video SEO principles to enhance video discoverability.
